Kind of Dukish will make the floor swing once again at Saturday Night’s Gala Party!

In December 2011, the big band Kind of Dukish was formed. They are renowned on the Berlin scene for their commitment to preserving and authentically presenting 1930s and 40s jazz and swing. All the band members are well-known professional musicians from the Berlin jazz scene and play mostly on original instruments from the swing era.

The band’s repertoire includes arrangements of Duke Ellington, Jimmie Lunceford, Benny Carter, Chick Webb, Fletcher Henderson, Cab Calloway, Count Basie, Charlie Barnet, Jimmy Heath, Bix Beiderbecke, Louis Armstrong, Larry Clinton, John Kirby, Raymond Scott, Django Reinhard, Skeets Tolbert, Urbie Green, Red Nichols and others.

In similarity to the great dance orchestras of the time period, Kind of Dukish works closely with local swing dancers to help them create a corresponding repertoire.
